Putting the SALVE back in SALVATION.

 William S. Burroughs famously wrote "Language is a virus from outer space," and for YEARS I had no idea what that meant. But if we define language as the intelligence which allows our minds to represent things by symbols, then we might ask ourselves where the symbol ends and the 'real' begins. We could say 'When I touch it, or when I see it,' but is the 'felt' and the 'seen' just a matter of neuron interpretations, an imbedded language in the brain? As for 'outer space' we could reference the mysterious 'dark matter' as the line where we differentiate outer space from inner space. I hope this doesn't drive anyone insane.

We can excuse the myth-based religions for enlisting the power of our imaginations for a type of 'salvation'. I've always asked 'salvation from what?' Well, from insanity, the most prevalent and diverse of maladies. Growing up, I noticed that everyone is broken in one way or another. Everyone is peculiar in ways that are alien to others. Eternalism is not a cure, but it can equal the others as a 'salve' (as in salvation) by embracing the deeper meanings of Time, especially its never-ending quality. All things must pass. Time demands it.

Time Eternal has another saying, not often recognized; 'All things must pass, and all things return.'

When One Universe Closes, Another Opens

  Who is to say what Nature desires?

How many women suffer from nymphomania? How many don't suffer at all from it? The universe has not provided a sufficient answer, so we must investigate on our own.

Some subjects disturb us. We turn away. When confronted we quickly organize a response that we hope will end the discussion. Perhaps it does end the discussion, but it does not end the subject.

Do You Believe In Levels Of Intelligence ?

 Years ago, I didn't believe it. 

Then, I considered intelligence to be about the seeking of balances. Some are able to focus on matters of importance to others, and being able to articulate that they gain deserved attention, at least for the duration of the high importance of the subject.

     Eternalists, seeking the broadest definitions, need to also communicate with others, be they Eternalists or not, their way of Eternalist thinking, the mindset of expansion and balances. This is not the same thing as recruiting, but then in it should not exclude recruiting for whoever expresses a desire to join us. A person HAS TO BE READY to come into the Eternalist mindset, but never pursue those who express serious doubts. If you can't make them grow, you have to leave them behind. This might not be their lifetime to embrace the light of never-ending Time. Perhaps the next one.

The Gifts of Time

I'll turn 70 in four months. Here's my take; There's ambition and there's knowledge gained by experience. Many people are raised by the magical thinking of dogmatic religions, melodramatic movies and other entertainment media on the one hand and actual practical lessons taught in school, by caring parents and helpful friendships on the other hand. As one ages one has more and more varied experiences. If they have ambition and apply practical knowledge, they will feel positive and seek more experiences and more knowledge and they will embody a youthful outlook of pleasure from exploration. If however their experiences conflict with the unlikely ambitions perpetrated by dogma and melodrama, they will shirk from experiences and knowledge and grow older in spirit, thinking themselves as having few reasons to live.

It's basic Eternalist thought. In Eternalism we attempt to envision something that may be impossible; we 'imagine' Time will never end. In attempting to imagine an expanse so great that it has no limits, we surrender to it as an act of love, and find ourselves on the path to true knowledge.

How To Own Reality.

 I admit I'm drunk. And high. And inspired by the angels, and captured and enslaved by the angels. sometimes you have to let them take you. Sometimes you take them. Spirit. In-SPIRE-ation. Spirit all over the place. Kratom-kreate-um. Domicile. What can you do? Search, that's all we can do.

The International Cafe Society.

Years ago, before the internet, I was a member of an organization that called itself 'The International Cafe Society'. Founded my Michael Cavanaugh, we met once a week at a cafe on Post near Geary streets in San Francisco and mostly discussed politics. We were a group of usually only five or six people, rarely all the same ones.

Some of the people I brought into the ICS were also in my esoteric group The Masters Of Gnosis. They were formed as part of my goal of bringing the ancient religion of Gnosticism into the modern discussions. In 1973 I'd bought a book at City Light Bookstore titled The Gnostics by Jacque Lacarrere. It set my imagination on high and I started having meetings to discuss the concepts outlined in the book. It was also a time of a new music explosion in SF, so as a musician and composer I decided to create a music production unit from MOG volunteers. Also in the mid-70's an art movement was forming in the Bay Area that took its inspiration from the Dadaists of the early 1900's. Defined as Neo-Dadaism, the movement was alive in the music community. Bands like Pink Section, The Dogmatics, Los Microwaves, Tuxedo Moon, Arkansaw Man, Inflatable Boy Clams and The Longshoremen gave the blunt-edged challenge to their audiences much in the way original Dada art shows challenged theirs. I started a record label and called it DADA-POP. 

My religious interest evolved through the years. As Gnosticism interests grew in the late 70's and early 80's, my personal interest in it waned. On the coattails of the New Age market, GNOSIS magazine made a huge impact with esoteric minded people (as did Elaine Pagels' book, The Gnostic Gospels). I liked the magazine very much for having a wealth of information in each issue, but I DID NOT like the dogma and mythologies it brought to the definition of Gnosticism. I began to form, occasionally in writing but mostly in my head, a new theology, based as much on experiential knowledge as much as it was spiritual release and euphoria. 

I'd always been fascinated by Time.

Like many who have been raised since birth to be Christian, my first concept of Eternity was presented to me in the tales of Heaven and Hell that came from the church. I don't recall the moment I thought of Eternity as an actual 'thing' (I was probably 4 or 5 years old), but I do remember that for several years afterwards I believed the simplest of explanations; Heaven was good and pleasurable and hell was bad and painful, and after you go there you stay FOREVER. I do remember, around the age of 7 or 8, thinking that was grossly unfair, and starting to wonder whether it could possibly be true.

The Path Of Knowledge

People might not entirely understand my reasons for developing Eternalism. And 'developing' is a much better word here than 'creating'.

The Eternalist process is not something that is finished, and it never will be. So it hasn't been created. But it is in constant development, within me and within you. No matter what our ages. Obviously a child develops faster than an adult or senior citizen.

This is the argument sometimes stated by opponents of Eternalism, that the ultimate goal is unattainable. Ah, but this is where true creation begins, with the establishment technological advances, used to expand our horizons as far as they will go,... and then further.

So it's not about frustration, it's about inspiration and innovation.

The future just started.

Thursdays are the day I get most of my Eternalist writing done.

     Although sometimes I'm diverting towards the artwork.

     I want to thank everyone who participated in any amount to the rally in Irwin Park last Saturday at which I spoke.  Making the speech taught me much of how to deliver the Eternalist message to the masses (although even if only a handful of people call themselves Eternalist, it is still worth our efforts.)

     There was much I did not say as well, but I intend to next time we meet. For instance, Eternity. Time has a consciousness, verified by its creation of our own consciousness. Call it God if you like or say God created Time if you like OR say there is no God involved, only Time. The end result is all the same - that we are made by Time, which is synonymous with Eternity.

    I want to give a brief history of Western Civilization and why a form of thinking, the form I call 'finite thinking' has dominated our world, at one time in a positive way, but now in a negative way.

     Eternalist thinking is the opposite of finite thinking. Finite thinking has a point at which it stops and needs no more knowledge. Eternalist thinking has no ending point and is a continual gathering of knowledge.

     For about 15 hundred years a form of finite thinking established itself with a populace that furthered the concepts of heaven and hell, places presumable where we all go when we die based on our behavior as well as our beliefs. One is good, one is bad, very simple. Very handy in keeping the children in line. And no wonder because mom and dad were also raised to believe it. And they go somewhere every Sunday just to have it reestablished in their minds. No wonder it caught on.

     They also found it easier to identify with other members of their tribe, these Euro-centric emerging 9th century, tenth, twelfth, take your pick of what years you might feel it was most significant, because they ALL were. It solidified the constantly developing culture of western civilization, and it seemed pretty good with them for a long long time, years and years and generation after generation.

     The age of finite thinking has got to be over, for the sake of our fellow humans, for our happiness, and for our survival. We need to tear down the divisions created by finite concepts of tribalism, nationalism, racism, sexism and the type of religiosity that confuses dogma for reality.

     After a while we come to America. A new land and a new opportunity to change our way of thinking. But did we? (signal with hand). Meh, Some did. But not enough to drag that whole finite mindset into more generations.

     As long as we genuflect to religions that confuse myths with reality we will live lives that confuse myths with reality. I'll say that again - as long as we bow to, and subsidize with tax breaks, the organised religions that market in the selling the confusion of myths with reality, then we will live lives and have minds that confuse myths with reality.

     People tell me, 'but Dennis, it's just a metaphor.' Then, fine, you want to live by a metaphor, we'll give them a metaphor. How about the metaphor of a man, handcuffed, on the cold concrete with a knee pressing against his neck so that he choked to death - THAT is a metaphor for EVERYBODY'S future if they get away with it, and the will not get away with with it because George Floyd LIVES within me - there's the positive metaphor - I am George Floyd.



     But it's GOT to stop.

     We are DEAD CENTER in Eternity. We have an Eternal past behind us and an Eternal future ahead of us. That makes THIS MOMENT the balance and the fulcrum.

ART ; The Heights And The Depths Of Eternalism

     People tell me I'm artistic and what not. And I'm just here to tell you now that my reactions to the world have been as common as anyone else's. Our artistic differences are in the talent of empathy, not in our observational capacities.

     One might even say that whatever artistic powers we have, we have through EMPATHY.
     People want their presence felt through other people. It's the nature of sex, family and all social order.

     True empathy keeps us from taking advantage of our subjects. But we do not always have TRUE EMPATHY. We can search for it when we meditate on Eternity. We are only immortal when we feel the presence of Eternity.

     What we observe as mortals we feed back through a wider prism, with colors of our own choosing.

Eternalist Thought Is Only Possible With A Free Mind

You'll need to be uncompromising in your search for knowledge.

That means unfettered by routines and assumptions, conscious and unconscious patterns and dogmas, social, religious, political and intellectual.

It's starting to be understood that Eternalist thinking is a discipline, the mind controlling the mind. You start with the questions you find you are asking yourself; 'Am I prepared for possible worldwide calamities?' 'Am I sexually attractive to the kinds of people I am sexually attracted to?' 'What if I die? What is that really like? Should I believe the dogma of heaven and hell just to relieve my anxiety over death?'

These and other questions are important in that they help you sustain a base reality to your life. The more basic the question, the more become the center, the groundwork of your mind. But what about the answers?

I teach to be very suspicious of answers. Having an answer is like parachuting into quicksand. You'll have to maneuver that parachute to more solid ground.

A lot has happened around me in the last decade or so. 

The establishment of Eternalism as a valid alternative to dogmatic religions is my main focus, and that includes all the arts; writing, music, design, painting, even architecture and fashion. Eternalism is created to start a way of thinking, a mindset based on the search for knowledge.

This morning is busy, but I'll leave you these prototypes of the symbol. Use them wherever and whenever you like. They will even become more important if you leave a note with them saying they are symbols of Eternalism.

Oh, and a brief blurb;

The Culling Urge

       There are today politicians asking the citizens of America to die to save the economy. Many are shocked that this is a real thing. You have to go WAY back in history to find a comparable situation.
     Yet I tell you, the urge to cull a population for the sake of the herd, or in some cases the entire species, is not a stranger in the human psyche.

     The culling urge may not be very conscious for the individual who is acting on its temptation. Its personification comes out as racism, jingoism (obsession with showing patriotism), conservatism, liberalism and sexism. "If there were less of you," your mind has this conversation with someone who has irritated you, "the world would be a better place."

     And the mind goes a step further into what seems logical for the moment, tying them to group identities. Of course, sex, money and prestige play a part as well.

     So, should we FIGHT our culling urges, or should we INVESTIGATE them instead? To acknowledge them is the first step to understanding and controlling them.

     Join the Eternalist movement, the philosophy that is truly PRO-HAPPINESS and endorses the right to personal choices through the search for knowledge.

Eternalist Thoughts For Quarantine Adjustments.

  As a species we are still experiencing evolution.

  An evolving being under restrictive circumstances can easily become anxious, ennui, nervously bored and unfocused. These are caused by a deep inner need for expansion of the species.

   Forced by circumstances into hermitage. Can we cope?

   I promise you this much; Eternalism will handle the changes better than any other religion on Earth. How? By re-inspiring you and others like you; the explorers. Because you are a seeker of true knowledge and wisdom.

Remember our three main tenets?

Let your mind go where it will go on this one. You can still be the hero of your own story.
You can shine from within yourself at home, so that once you return into the public world, you can move with a certainty of vision that will be noticed by others who share the warmth of your heart, one heart around the world.

To better ourselves. To go to the next step.

Sadly, not everyone CAN go the Eternalist route. These are finite thinkers. This is not the incarnation for them to realize eternity exists. How do I know this?

The tao symbol, fully understood, is a valuable tool of Eternalist research.

We use it to be imaginative, to pit forms of matter in opposition to one another, as in air versus water.
Or concepts, like instinct versus superstition. One is immediately drawn to say, 'But these things are NOT true opposites of each other, which may be true. But for our exploratory  purposes, they are.

We say for this experiment that 'being able to be an Eternalist' is in direct opposition to 'NOT being able to be an Eternalist'. This is to say that the nature of the able is equal to the nature of the unable, as per the yin and the yang of the tao. If I used the word 'belief' into the nature of this opposition, it would be to put 'belief' as an equal opposite to 'unbelief'.

Half of the world must say they do not 'believe' in something for the other half to say it DOES 'believe' in something.

With constant change. A thought, or idea, or concept is born of the exact opposite or 'belief' in the exact opposite of that thought, idea or concept.

For a new movement in our thinking to become a conscious concept, we must be reacting to the previous void of that concept. To bring it into being in the minds of our species. To evolve.

This is nature.

And so we live and function and create energy through the powers created by opposing forces. We can use this formula; 'X minus X minus (or XmXm), where x equals on tangable thing or concept and x minus equals ANY OTHER tangible thing or concept. An example of the top of my head would be a big screen TV (X) to the negative of an orange (X minus). We could start by looking at their functions. X for entertainment, news, excitement, relaxing, X minus for taste, nutrition, hunger, health. While X is not necessary, X minus as food is. If we try we can pick out and discover other ways in which the two are opposites, as well as where the two find one another necessary; you can't watch a big screen tv without eating food. You'd be dead of starvation, and so on,...

Always and in all ways. Because time.

Observations On Linear Incarnations

Life forms. Life forms form from life.

Life eats life to live. And so on, and so on,..

So how are linear incarnations of life NOT possible, if not probable?

On the surface it may seem impossible, but doesn't most phenomena seem impossible when we first hear of them? 

The atomic bomb. Black holes. Gravity. Space travel. Radio waves. Language. Instinct. Insemination. Eternity.
